My father had insisted that I wear a corset and tie up my hair. He said that it was time for me to grow up and stop living in the world my brother, Gerard and I lived in. He then started to grow impatient with my silence and began prattling on about 'I know how you feel' and 'it’s not the end of the world. It’s just time to grow up.' I shuddered at the thought of getting older.
